I vividly remember I May Destroy You once a month or so. And it saddens me so much that almost no one from my circle, or even from Spain in general don't know about this show. When it is SO good and extremely important and so well made. I mean, we clearly know why this show isn't that famous in Spain. Even if I hate comparing show or movies, when it came out people compared it with Fleabag (they have nothing in common, though), and I do feel like more people watched it, spreading it through filmtwt. This happens with A LOT of POC shows and movies, that might be pretty well-known in certain places (or not), but never in Spain. Movies like Rye Lane (they never add it to those "best rom-coms from the last couple of years" lists), Layla, My Father's Shadow, Nickel Boys, Polite Society, His House, Sing Sing, Amreeka, If Beale Street Could Talk, The Last Black Man in San Francisco*, All We Imagine As Light,...or shows like* Dead Hot*, Bait, The Get Down, Ramy, Juice, We Are Lady Parts, On My Block,... Just the first ones that sping to mind.
Living in a mainly white audiovisual cultural place sucks. I'm obviously a part of it, even though I always try to widen my knowledge of POC content. (I wanted to write more about this but I feel I don't have to knowledge, vocabulary and information to talk about it...yet.
